Sourcing Mental-health Advice, Resources and Treatment

SMART works with Marlborough General practitioners and Maori Health Organisations to assist qualifying people to access GP’s and a range of treatments and therapies for their recovery from conditions such as mild to moderate depression and anxiety.

SMART offers clients:

  • One extended consultation and one follow up appointment with their GP at no cost to the client.
  • Access to SMART coordinator who will put together a ‘package’ of helpful services which will generally include counseling. In most cases these services may be funded by SMART.
  • Packages of Care are tailored to meet individual needs and may include non medical treatments.

This service is intended for those people whose mental health needs are not being met by another agency and who will benefit from brief, short term treatments.

Who can access SMART?

  • A person who is enrolled with a Marlborough General Practitioner  and referred through them  or who is referred through a Maori Health Provider.
  • A person who has a mild to moderate mental disorder not requiring or receiving secondary mental health care and who will benefit from short term assistance.

Persons in the programme must agree to complete the consent form and the appropriate assessment module.
