Glenice Paine

I was born and bred in Waikawa and along with my whanau I have lived and worked in the Marlborough region for many years. I have a background in the conservation and resource management fields. I have had 6 years experience on the local Conservation Board and I am an accredited Commissioner with experience dealing with legislation, especially the Resource Management Act.

I have held many governance positions and have gained considerable experience through my tenure as Tumuaki (Chairperson) of Nga Kaihautu Tikanga Taiao, a Maori Advisory Committee to the Environmental Risk Management Authority. This position has allowed me to increase my knowledge of hazardous substances and new organisms and their effect on the environment and human health.

I am a Trustee for Te Atiawa Manawhenua ki Te Tau Ihu Trust, a member of the local Maori Women’s Welfare League and an active member of Waikawa marae. I am on the Board of Trustees at Queen Charlotte College as well as being involved in a number of community groups.
